Privacy Policy

Who runs this website, the very small amount of data it handles, and what we do and do not do with it.

Who publishes this site

This website is published by Nordkap Bay Casino Resort, a land-based hotel and casino resort at Salthouse Pier. Questions about anything on this page go to [email protected], marked for the data contact, and are answered by a person rather than a form.

What this site is not

There is no booking engine here. There is no online casino, no wagering, no deposit page and no payment of any kind. You cannot open an account on this website, because there are no accounts to open. That keeps the amount of personal data we could possibly collect very small, which is deliberate.

What we collect

  • Nothing, if you only read. Browsing these pages without agreeing to anything and without writing to us leaves us with no information that identifies you.
  • Two entries kept on your own device. The age confirmation and your cookie choice are kept in your browser's local storage, named nk_age_confirmed and nk_consent. They stay on your device, they are not sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes them.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records the usual technical lines when a page is served: an IP address, a timestamp, the page requested, the referring page and the browser string. These are used to keep the site up and to investigate abuse.
  • What you put in an email. If you write to us, we hold your address, your name if you sign with it and whatever else you decide to tell us, for as long as it takes to answer and to honour the arrangement you asked for.
  • Analytics and advertising measurement, only with consent. Described below.

Analytics and advertising

We advertise this resort online, and we would like to know whether the advertising works. If, and only if, you choose "Accept all" on the cookie bar, Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads measurement are switched on for your visit, and we can see aggregate figures: how many people arrived, which pages they read, roughly which region they came from, and how many came from a particular advertisement.

Until you choose, Google Consent Mode v2 is set to denied for advertising storage, advertising user data, advertising personalisation and analytics storage. That default is written into the page itself, before any measurement tag can run. Choosing "Essential only" leaves it denied, and you can come back to the choice at any time with the Cookie settings button in the footer.

Why we are allowed to do this

  • Consent — for analytics and advertising cookies, and for nothing else. You give it on the bar and can withdraw it in the same place.
  • Legitimate interests — for keeping the site available, secure and free of abuse, which is what the server logs are for.
  • Steps before a contract, and the contract itself — for the email correspondence that turns into a reservation.
  • Legal obligation — where accounting or licensing rules require a record to be kept for a set period.

How long things are kept

Server logs are held for a short rolling window, normally a few weeks, and then overwritten. Analytics data is retained for the period configured in Google Analytics and is held in aggregate. Email correspondence is kept while a stay is being arranged and for as long afterwards as accounting rules require, then deleted. The two browser values last until you clear them yourself or your browser does it for you.

Who else sees it

Our hosting provider, as processor, because the pages have to be served from somewhere. Google, for analytics and advertising measurement, if you consented. Our email provider, for messages you send us. Nobody else: we do not sell personal data, we do not trade mailing lists, and we do not pass anything to advertising networks beyond the consented measurement described above.

Transfers

Where a provider processes data outside the region you are in, that transfer relies on the safeguards the provider puts in place, typically standard contractual clauses. Declining analytics and advertising cookies removes most of this question entirely.

Your rights

You may ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or ask for your correspondence in a portable form. Write to [email protected] and we will answer within a month. If our answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Children

This site is addressed to adults, because the resort it describes contains a casino floor restricted to people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 through this website. If you believe a minor has sent us something, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

When this page changes, the review date at the top changes with it. Anything that genuinely alters what we do with your data will also be flagged on the cookie bar, so you get the chance to look at it again rather than discovering it by accident.
